BOpS presents The Marriage of Figaro

Bristol University Operatic Society is excited to present Mozart’s Marriage of Figaro in the newly refurbished Winston Theatre. The opera, in four acts, features Lorenzo Da Ponte’s witty libretto, which is based on French playwright, Pierre Beaumarchais’, politically charged play, Le mariage de Figaro. Ever since its 1786 debut, Mozart’s enchanting opera has been captivating audiences; for this production, BOps will transport the audience to the Roaring Twenties, launching them into a glamourous world of exuberance, parties and prosperity. The story depicts a single “day of madness”, which involves the scheming plans of the philandering Count Almaviva and the efforts made by the Countess, Figaro (his valet), and Susanna (the Countess’ maid) to reveal his plans and embarrass him. The production involves some of the University’s most talented singers and musicians, as part of a large ensemble cast and chorus accompanied by a 26-piece orchestra. BOps are delighted to share with you their reimagining of Mozart’s enthralling and timeless opera. Performances are 25th – 28th February 2015 in the Winston Theatre. Weds / Thurs / Fri: 7pm (Doors open 6:30) Tickets: £10, Concessions/Students £5, BOps members £3. Saturday will be a Gala Performance, with a champagne reception starting at 5pm and the performance starting at 6pm. Formal Attire. Tickets: £15, Concessions/Students £8, BOps members: £5
